Fiskars get frisked!  

Fiskars Group, a well-known name engaged in manufacturing a wide range of home equipment, faced a cyberattack during the first week of April 2024. The group employs more than 7000 individuals and is well recognized for its iconic orange scissors, which are part of the general household.  

The Fiskars group informed the Maine Attorney General that their systems had been breached by attackers from 31st March 2024 till 8th April 2024. As per the investigations done by the company, the attackers were able to exfiltrate sensitive data, including name, social security number, etc., and close to 6000 user records got compromised during the attack.  

Fiskars group has a presence in more than 100 countries across the globe and holds a robust position under various brands; the cyber incident happened in the US region. As per the information available, the impact of the attack was on a small set of users, and the company was able to contain the damage by their prompt countermeasure actions. The attackers targeted the user workstations and application servers with the aim of making some financial gains.   

While the company continued its operations as usual without any service interruptions, the attackers were able to compromise some of the confidential information from their systems. Fiskar’s group has demonstrated its capability of handling cyber incidents by containing the attack, maintaining their day-to-day operations uninterrupted as well as keeping their stakeholders and customers assured about their safety. The Fiskars Group cyber-security incident is a testament to the evolving nature of challenges faced by organizations in the digital age.
